Apologies all round for such a late match report relating to the match against Athenaeum 4 on 16th Dec. Family matters and Christmas overcame me and eventually seemed to occupy every waking minute.
Well, we managed to beat a team who have beaten us regularly in the past. That's great and I thank everyone for their commitment. True, it was a narrow victory and we were helped by their failure to provide a board 8 player thus ensuring us with at least one point but I'm not complaining. A special mention goes to Pete Saberton, Nick Ward and Chris Beckett who came through with outright wins and to David Wigg who drew on board 4. The rest of us - including myself - were not quite so distinguished and I for one chalking up another loss must surely return to the drawing board for instruction and inspiration.
