Are these the most fiendish chess puzzles ever? We set 50 players five puzzles – only ONE got solved

By Leon Watson · June 14, 2017

GM Simon Williams at Battersea Chess Club

An impressive 54 keen chess players turned out last night for our big Simon Says event and Summer Chess League launch party.

And all but one of them left completely stumped by the fiendish set of five tricky chess puzzles we set them.

As part of the celebrations we offered up cash prizes for the first to master each one.

Entries were judged by our special guest for the night, 2700 Fide Grandmaster, England’s number 2 and all-round top guy David Howell.

But only one bright spark managed to solve any of the puzzles we set them. That was Battersea member Adam Bukojemski – so well done Adam!

Adam, who is 206 ECF, solved the first one, but the other FOUR puzzles remain unsolved.

Can you master them?
