How to Join

By becoming a member of Battersea Chess Club, you are joining one of London’s great chess institutions.

We offer regular weekly club nights, internal tournaments, impromptu events and a host of league teams for members to take part in. All you have to do is sign up.

Please note, to play in local league matches and rated internal events there is also a national federation membership fee payable to the ECF.

Our data protection policy can be found here.  All club members who pay subscription fees implicitly agree to their acceptance of this policy.

Prospective members are welcome to attend for a couple of weeks free of charge before deciding if they would like to join.

The membership year runs from 1st August — new members can get up to three months free by joining after 1st April for the following year. That means you can get 16 months for the price of 12! Just select “Full Member” or “Junior Member” according to your needs.

We also offer half-price membership for players with full ratings over 2000 (FIDE or ECF, whichever is higher) — we recognise the value that high rated players add to our club as we all continue to learn from one another. Apologies, but we don’t accept online ratings for this — and if your ECF rating ends in a P for “partial”, you won’t qualify yet.

We also offer free membership to grandmasters (GM/WGM) and international masters (IM/WIM).
