Battersea’s exciting young guns ran riot at the UK Chess Challenge at the weekend winning Ultimo titles in three sections and runner-up in another.

Denis Dupuis triumphed in the Under 9s, Boris Stoyanov came second in the U10s, his brother Viktor Stoyanov won the U15s and Koby Kalavannan was top of the pile in the U16s.

Denis, pictured here being handed the trophy by Sarah Hegarty (nee Longson), continued his impressive form in tournaments.

Denis, Viktor and Koby will now go through to the Terafinal with a chance to win £2,000 and be crowned UK Schools’ Chess Challenge Champion.

The UK Chess Challenge‘s penultimate stage was held at Orleans Park School in Twickenham.

Over 40,000 children play in the competition set up by former Battersea junior IM Mike Basman.
