Purrr-fect! Cats maul Dogs in Battersea’s London Chess League derby

The Battersea London League derby turned out like an episode of Tom & Jerry on Tuesday as the Major division Cats team ran rings round the Dogs.

Chris Rebbeck’s fiery furballs were like cats with the cream after they clawed a 3-1 win over Tim Valentine’s pack to set the pace in league’s fifth tier.

Wins for Steve Barry and Joel Morales, over Tim Valentine and Fabio Buanne, had the Dogs scuttling.

Meanwhile, the games between Alan Palmer and Bill Drennan and Arnold Hunt and Gregg Hutchence ended in draws.

The Dogs next face Hackney on November 6, while the Cats take on East Ham on November 13.
