Battersea celebrated International Women’s Day this week with an emphatic double El Chessico win over Hammersmith.

The two clubs met in the second leg of the match at Battersea’s home venue.

Battersea Women, captained by Zoya Boozorginia, recorded their first team victory by 4.5-1.5.

There were wins for Zoya herself, Djuna Tree on board 1, Marie Obagi, and Margarita Harris. Shir Bar Tal drew.

Battersea Juniors, meanwhile, obliterated their rivals 20.5-2.5 in a rapid chess clash.

Luca Buanne, eldest son of captain and organiser Fabio, led the line with two wins. The younger Buanne, Giulio, also scored 1.5/2.

As you can see from the scorecard, there were many impressive results – too many to mention!
