Is three a crowd, or is three the magic number? You decide when we play Three Check in the next edition of the Battersea Variants tomorrow!

Our crazy chess contest is back for its eighth outing and it’s another chance to win one of our coveted medals.

Will Blair win again? He’s been beaten once by Son Tung Nguyen, so it is possible. This is tournament 8/10 so you’re running out of chances to get a spot on the dartboard podium.

Kick-off will be at 6.15pm at the latest on Tuesday April 11 (that’s tomorrow). Be there sharp and let Aldo know if you want to take part. Here are the details:

Format

  • 20 Players or less.
  • 5 Rounds
  • Swiss Pairing
  • 3+2 blitz

Rules

Normal chess rules apply. The game is won by normal means or by the first player to deliver three checks to the opponent’s King. Grab a counter, or whatever token the organiser wants to use to indicate how many checks you’ve made. Please line them up by your side of the clock. They must be visible.
