Battersea Chess Club has run continuously for 135 years and through two World Wars without a break. Coronavirus is not going to stop us.

So, Battersea is moving online – starting tonight!

At this difficult time, we figured some of us may need cheering up. Some may even be in isolation. So, we will be holding tournaments and blitz arenas online featuring Battersea players only so we can continue playing chess and get through it together.

YOU ARE INVITED TO TAKE PART

The tournaments will be hosted on the two biggest platforms – Lichess.org and chess.com. There are no costs. We urge you to get involved!
Here’s how to get involved:

STEP 1: If you haven’t already, set up a free account with these platforms. You can play on whichever you choose, or both. We suggest both.

STEP 2: Again, if you haven’t already, join the Battersea team on those platforms:

https://lichess.org/team/battersea-chess-club

STEP 3: Register for one of our tournament/blitz arenas. Details of the first two are below.

Here is what is on the menu for today:

PLEASE USE THE CHAT FUNCTIONS IN BOTH TOURNAMENTS!

We hope it all works out – this is a bit of an experiment – and if so, we will hold more regular online events over the summer and hopefully branch out.

Get involved people – let’s make self-isolation if it happens fun for each other, not just ourselves!
