Adam Bukojemski and Bao Dong Nghia killed off two more pretenders to the throne last night to go through to the semi-finals of the Contest of Kings.

Adam dispatched Phil Makepeace in his quarter and Bao decapitated Viktor Stoyanov.

Adam and Bao advance their claims, while it’s off to the Tower for the two princes Phil and Viktor. Sadly, they’ll never be seen again.

The second pair of quarter-finals take place tonight with:

Mike Healey vs Rhys Cumming
David Okike vs Blair Connell

The matches will take place as Battersea welcomes special guest and former World Championship Candidate Grandmaster Jon Speelman.

GM Speelman will hold a simul at the club. More details here.

Next week – on Tuesday – Battersea Chess Club will host our Autumn Rapids tournament – part of the year-round Four Seasons Rapid event.

More details to follow.
