London Chess League update

Battersea’s four teams started their London Online Chess League campaigns on Wednesday.

Full results are yet to be reported but, in the Battersea derby, Battersea Cats clawed a 2.5-1.5 victory over Battersea Dogs.

Steve Barry and Joel Morales beat Tim Valentine and Pawel Slonczuk on boards 1 and 2, while there was a draw between Chris Rebbeck and David Blackwell on board 4.

The club is fielding one team in the top division, captained by Adam Bukomjemski, three teams in the second tier.

Battersea “Too” is captained by Malcolm Dancy.

The online league was launched after the suspension of the London Chess League proper due to covid-19 restrictions back in March.

The last time any Battersea team played in the LCL was a 4-0 win for Battersea Dogs in the Major division.
