Fixtures for the upcoming 2019/20 Central London Chess League season have been released and the Battersea matches are now live on our club calendar.

The action will kick off with Battersea CLL2 vs Athenaeum on Thursday, September 12 before Battersea 1 take on HMC1 on September 19.

The Battersea 1 vs Battersea 2 derby is currently scheduled for October 22 but a request is being put in for it to be brought forward to September 22.

Our captains for 2019/20

Battersea will field three teams again in the league this year, the top two of which are in Division 1.

Tommaso Penna replaces Chris Beckett to captain the first team while Emil Todorow stays captain of the second team.

Meanwhile, Derek Harvey replaces Howard Groves as captain of the third team in Division 2.

How to sign up for a team

Anyone who wants to play in those teams needs to contact the respective captains to get on their mailing lists.

Changes to the Central London Chess League

There are a few changes to the league this year.

From October 18 the Pimlico venue is the Community Centre on the 
Lillington Gardens Estate.

There are two new clubs in the league this year. Streatham and Hammersmith have entered teams in Division 3.

Also, SW Juniors have been rebranded as Hammersmith Juniors. Nick Faulks will be taking over from Steve Sonnis as League Administrator.
